1. Adams (size 12-18)
The Adams dry fly represents a range of river olive duns. The river olive duns includes the Baetis group of flies and also the Blue Winged Olive (Ephemerella ignita). The Adams dry fly can be fished throughout the year on all types of river and natural spring fed lakes, but is best used in the Spring and early Summer.

2. Amber Pupa (size 10-12)
The Amber Pupa represents a sedge pupa. It is most effective when fished on warm still evenings but can be used at other times if there is sedge activity. This pattern should be fished like a nymph.

3. Apricot Spinner (size 14)
The Apricot Spinner represents a female pond olive spinner. They are best fished in still shallow conditions on lakes and ponds at dusk on a hot summer's evening but can be effective at other times.

4. Balloon Caddis (size 10-14)
The Balloon Caddis represents a hatching sedge pupa. The yellow foam on the thorax represents the splitting pupa case. Like all the sedge pupa imitations it is best fished on warm summer evenings, but can be used at other times if there is sedge activity.

5. Black Gnat (size 14-20)
The Black Gnat dry fly is tied to represent a terrestrial insect rather than one of aquatic origin. There are several different species of black gnat and all are taken prolifically by trout year round. It is best used in Spring and early Summer.

6. Black Stimulator (size 8-12)
The Black Stimulator represents a stonefly. Stoneflies only inhabit clean, well oxygenated rivers and streams, although they can sometimes be found in spring fed lakes. They are active all year round but the main hatches are in spring and summer.

7. Bob's Bits (size 10-14)
Bob's Bits is tied to represent a chironomid. These are only found in significant numbers on lakes. They vary greatly in colour and are sometimes called buzzers or midges (duckfly in Ireland). Bob's Bits is best fished on summer evenings when the wind is calm.

8. CDC Dun (size 12-14)
The CDC Dun is a representation of a lake olive dun. There are many different species of lake olive and the similar pond olive but the dun stage of all is very similar. There are two distinct hatch periods in the year: March-June and September-October. During these periods they are prolific throughout the day but damp days tend to make it difficult for them to take off - great for the trout!

9. CDC Mayfly (size 8-10)
The CDC Mayfly is a mayfly dun pattern. Although traditionally it hatches in May, the more prolific hatches tend to be late May and early June. Small numbers actually hatch well into the summer when a CDC Mayfly can be deadly. The Mayfly can be found on most rivers and lakes in the UK.

10. Claret Emerger (size 10-14)
The Claret Emerger is an adult chironomid pattern designed for use on lakes in the spring and summer.

11. Dark Needle (size 14)
The Dark Needle represents the smallest flies of the stoneflies. It needs clean, well oxygenated water and is most common on fast flowing rivers and streams. Please note this is a wet fly.

12. Deerstalker (size 10)
The Deerstalker is a mayfly spinner pattern. It represents the spent female spinners that die once they have deposited their eggs. The Deerstalker is best fished on calm evenings in the mayfly season (mid-May to mid-June), but can be fished late into summer when there are sporadic hatches.

13. Elk Hair Sedge (size 10-16)
The Elk Hair Sedge represents an adult sedge (caddis fly). It is best fished on late on a warm summer evening on lakes and rivers but can be fished at other times, particularly when the river species grannom is hatching.

14. Fur Thorax Pupa (size 12-16)
The Fur Thorax Pupa is a caddis or sedge pupa. It is best fished from late afternoon onwards from spring into late summer. Calm conditions are best but the pattern can be effective in quite windy conditions when the air is warm. This pattern should be fished like a nymph.

15. G&H Sedge (size 8-12)
The G&H Sedge represents and adult sedge or caddis fly. It is best fished on late summer evenings when the air is still. Dragging the fly across the water's surface can be a successful technique as the adult sedges are very active.
